Grilling on a Louisiana Grills Pellet Grill infuses wood fired flavors that pair beautifully with any kind of seafood, and Grilled Dungeness Crab is no exception. Because most are harvested in mid-November through December, it’s become a staple on holiday tables along the West Coast and Pacific Northeast. Simple yet delicious, these grilled crabs will be an impressive addition to any gathering.
Dungeness Crab flourishes around the Pacific coast, mainly the Washington, Oregon, and North-Central California coasts. If you’re not able to source fresh crab, they can typically be found frozen at your local fish market or high-end grocer.
It is recommended to use New England Apple Hardwood Pellets with this recipe as it is light and won’t overpower the crab meat.
Before grilling, you must clean your Dungeness crab. If using live crab, you must first steam or boil the crabs for about 7-8 minutes per pound, then rinse thoroughly in cold water. If using frozen crab, simply let thaw overnight in the refrigerator.
